Haunted places

Hotels and inns

In a hotel every room has its own history and thousands of people have passed through the corridors. Small wonder that some hotels are better known for their ghosts than for their comfort: the Stanley Hotel in Colorado inspired Stephen King to write The Shining, and many British pubs advertise themselves as 'the most haunted in the country'. Guests' accounts mix with marketing here, yet some stories go back to times when nobody had heard of horror tourism.
